The Sustainable Spread 9
Welcome to the Easter edition of The Sustainable Spread
– our ninth issue!
As the days grow longer and the weather (hopefully) warms up, we’re turning our thoughts to picnics, park lunches, and all things spring. In this issue, we’re celebrating our ongoing collaboration with Symplicity, saying hello to London’s newest immersive venue Quiz Room, and catching up with our brilliant Operations Director, Jeremy.
Oh, and there’s a little chocolate egg fun too – it is Easter, after all.
PICNICS ARE BACK! (almost)
Picnic season is soon here, and we're ready. Imagine park meetings, company lunches in the sun, and long-overdue outdoor get-togethers. Our picnic boxes are designed for convenient, delicious alfresco dining - generous, fresh, and ready to go.
Each box serves four and can be delivered directly to your office or preferred green space. Inside, you'll discover all your picnic favourites, including sandwiches, finger foods, colourful salads, crisps, fresh fruit, and a little something sweet to finish.
SIMPLY SYMPLICITY
It’s not often we’re truly wowed by a meat alternative - but Symplicity changed that. Made from fermented vegetables (yes, really), their range is bold, satisfying, and refreshingly unprocessed. No powders, no additives - just real ingredients, naturally packed with flavour.
Our team recently visited the Symplicity production kitchens to get a closer look at the fermentation process and hear what’s next for this standout ingredient. We can’t say too much just yet… but keep an eye out - it’ll be making an appearance in even more Eden dishes when our summer menu launches at the start of June.
Versatile, plant-based, and genuinely delicious - this is one game-changing ingredient we can’t get enough of.
Q&A WITH JEREMY
In this edition, we caught up with our Operations Director, Jeremy Redgewell, as he marks an incredible 20 years with Eden. He sat down with us to reflect on the journey so far and share his thoughts on all things Eden - past, present, and what’s still to come.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Hi, I’m Jeremy, Operations Director at Eden. I grew up in and around various F&B businesses, so you could say the industry is in my blood, it felt like a natural path for me. I’ve been part of the Eden team for over twenty years, with the last ten spent as Operations Director. Outside of work, I’m a keen golfer, if I’m not in the office, there’s a good chance you’ll find me on the golf course.
What's your role at Eden, and what does it involve?
As the Operations Director, I am responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management and operational functions of the business. My role involves leading employee recruitment and training, managing procurement and quality control, and implementing strategic process improvements to support Eden and the team in achieving our highest potential. The primary focus of the operations team is to consistently meet and exceed our clients expectations by ensuring every order is delivered accurately and on time.
What do you enjoy most about working in at Eden? All of it, I love it, of course there's high's n lows but no two days are ever the same, catering can be demanding industry that often calls for long, hard hours. What makes it all worthwhile is the incredible team we have at Eden. Many of them have been with us for years, and over time, we've become more than just colleagues, we’re like a family. “It’s always a pleasure, never a chore”.
What’s the most memorable event you’ve worked on? With tens of thousands of events behind me, it’s tricky to pick just one - but the 14-day launch of Cartier’s Panthère range really stands out. We catered for over 10,000 guests, and the scale of the logistics, planning and delivery was immense. It was a real test of coordination, but everything ran seamlessly, which made it even more rewarding.
What made it truly memorable wasn’t just the brand or the numbers - it was the location. The event took place at Clarence House, then home to HRH The Prince of Wales (now King Charles III). He even made an appearance one evening… though we may have been asked to keep the noise down!
Do you have a favourite food item?
Now there's a question… being responsible for our new product and menu development I guess it’s important for me to keep eating LOL. My go to is generally Italian, simple, fresh with bold flavours, served with a good Primitivo.
